The Arena Football League made multiple announcements via their Twitter account on Tuesday afternoon as the league plans to return to play for the 2024 season.
The league announced on Twitter the 16 locations that will field franchises in 2024. Some cities were officially made public, while other locations just gave the state the team would be located in.
The Orlando Predators headlined the list of returning franchises. The two-time AFL champions are one of the AFL's most recognizable franchises and are currently playing in the National Arena League. The team announced late Tuesday afternoon, their intent to return to the AFL.
The West Texas Warbirds from Odessa, who are also apart of the NAL, announced that they would be moving to the AFL next season as well.
Earlier in the day, a story from TMZ's website showed Cincinnati listed to receive a franchise. If that is indeed official, it would be the second time the AFL has attempted to field a team in the Queen City.
The Cincinnati Rockers were around for the 1992 and 1993 seasons. The Rockers played in the Riverfront Coliseum - now named Heritage Bank Center. The 1992 season was Cincinnati's best, going 7-3 in the regular season which included a playoff berth.
The AFL's official website shows a countdown to kickoff slating Saturday, April 27 as the opening day for the 2024 season.
The league also announced a partnership with HUMBL to be their official technology platform through the 2028 season. The partnership between HUMBL and the AFL will focus on developing a digital fan experience that includes the website, digital wallet, ticketing integrations, and more.
