Balanced scoring leads Kentucky over Vanderbilt, 69-53

NASHVILLE — Five Wildcat players scored in double figures as Kentucky defeated the Vanderbilt Commodores 69-53 on Tuesday.


This was the third time this season that Kentucky had five players with double figures in a game. The last occurred in win over Michigan on Dec. 3.


Antonio Reeves led the Wildcats with 16 points, while Oscar Tshiebwe had 15 points and 13 rebounds. Jacob Toppin earned his fourth double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. CJ Fredrick and Cason Wallace each added 10 points to elp Kentucky beat Vanderbilt for the 14th consecutive time.


Reeves scored in double figures for the sixth consecutive game. He's scored at least 16 points in for of those six games.


The scoring quintet combined to shoot 28 of 47 from the field and six of 15 from behind the arc.


Kentucky (14-6, 5-3 SEC) held Vanderbilt to 32.7 percent shooting from the floor as the Commodores scored their fewest points since being held to 48 against Southern Miss back in November.


Vanderbilt (10-10, 3-4) was led by Malik Dia, who scored 14 points.


Kentucky, who has now won four straight, turns his attention now to Saturday's big matchup as they host the 9th-ranked Kansas Jayhawks in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN.
