Ball scores 24 to lead Lady Panthers over Blue Angels

GALLIPOLIS — The plan was simple. Start fast and play defense.

The Chesapeake Lady Panthers got out to a big first quarter lead and used a stingy defense to shut down the Gallipolis Blue Angels’ offense in a 41-23 Ohio Valley Conference win on Monday.

Kate Ball drained a trifecta and scored 12 points while Brooklyn McComas also hit a 3-pointer and Sara Dillon added a basket as Chesapeake took a 17-4 first quarter lead.

Ball made another shot from beyond the arc and scored 5 points while Hannah Webb scored 4 points as the Lady Panthers defense held Gallipolis to 4 points as the lead went to 35-20.

Emma Hammons was 3-of-4 and Mallory Petro 1-of-2 from the foul line to account for the Gallipolis scoring in the quarter.
