WESTWOOD, Ky. — The Green Bobcats offense was good. The Fairview Eagles’ was just better.
Green had 207 total yards but Fairview piled up 469 as the Eagles took a 42-20 win over the Bobcats on Friday.
Fairview had a big first quarter to make the Bobcats chances of a comeback win go dim. The Eagles jumped in front 28-7 and led 42-13 at the half.
Jeffery Everetts had a 5-yard scoring run midway through the first quarter and the Eagles led 6-0.
After an interception, the lead went to 14-0 on an 80-yard pass from Jace Manning at the 5:14 mark. Kouns ran for the conversion.
Green got within 14-7 on a 30-yard pass from Landon Kimbler to Riley Cunningham. Quincy Merrill kicked the conversion with 4:57 left on the clock.
The Eagles got the next two touchdowns on a 43-yard run by Jace Manning and a 72-yard gallop by Jeffery Everetts. Jayden Miller kicked both conversions.
Green cut the deficit in. Half as Brody Stapleton caught a 3-yard pass from Kimbler and it was 28-13.
But Manning hooked up with Izaac Johnson on scoring passes for 31 and 21 yards and it was 42-13 at the half.
Green capped the scoring when Cunningham got free on a 78-yard run with 3 minutes left. Merrill again added the extra point.
Cunningham finished with 81 lads on 6 carries to lead the ground game. Kimbler was 13-of-19 for 116 yards and 2 touchdowns with an interception.
Stapleton caught 4 passes for 65 yards and a TD while Cunningham had 40 yards on 2 catches and a score.
Everetts led a balanced ground game for Fairview with 87 yards on just 3 carries and he had a touchdown. Manning was 7-of-13 passing for 234 yards and 3 scores.
Kouns caught 3 passes for 120 yards and a score while Johnson had 4 receptions for 114 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Fairview is now 3-1 and has won back-to-back games for the first time in eight seasons.
The Bobcats (1-4) will host Symmes Valley on Saturday in the first Southern Ohio Conference game of the season.
