PEDRO — It’s been an unscheduled vacation, but play has resumed.
Winter weather shut down area basketball for the past couple weeks but teams were playing Monday including the Chesapeake Lady Panthers who got a 48-31 Ohio Valley Conference win over the Rock Hill Redwomen.
“It was good to get back out there and play even though it looked kind of rough at times. But we’re happy to get the win. Rock Hill always plays hard,” said Lady Panthers’ coach Chris Ball.
Chesapeake (7-4, 3-4) had three players in double figures as Kate Ball scored 19 points, Abbey Isaacs got 15 and Erin Hicks had 12.
J’lynn Risner scored 17 points for Rock Hill (3-8, 0-6).
The Lady Panthers took a 13-9 first quarter lead as Ball hit a pair of 3-pointers and Isaacs and Hicks made one each.
Risner scored 8 of Rock Hill’s total.
Chesapeake broke the game open by outscoring Rock Hill 16-5 in the second quarter to build a 29-14 halftime lead.
Isaacs scored 7 points and Hicks 6 as Isaacs, Hicks and Ball all hit 3-pointers.
Rock Hill outscored the Lady Panthers 9-8 in the third quarter as Risner scored 6 points and Abigail Payne added a basket.
Ball scored 6 points and Isaacs sank 2 free throws for Chesapeake.
Four different players scored in the fourth quarter for Chesapeake with Ball getting 4 points and Hicks making another trifecta.
The Lady Panthers hit eight 3-pointers in the game.
Risner knocked down a 3-pointer, Myles Bailey had 3 points and Samantha Bamer had a basket in the quarter for the Redwomen.
