Big 3rd Inning lifts Reds over Cards

CINCINNATI - The Cincinnati Reds used a 4-run rally in the 3rd inning to defeat the first-place St. Louis Cardinals at Great American Ballpark on Tuesday night.


In the 3rd, Alejo Lopez reach base on a single to lead off the inning. Catcher Austin Romine came up next and drove a Dakota Hudson pitch deep into centerfield for a 2-run homer to make the score 2-1.


Jonathan India followed with a base hit and reached home on the next at bat when Jake Fraley doubled into left field.


Kyle Farmer came up next and and lined a single into right field to score Fraley and the Reds went up 4-1 after 3 innings.


Starter Justin Dunn threw 4 innings, giving up one run on three hits and recorded four strikeouts in a no decision.


Reliever Derek Law picked up the win for the Reds, his first with the team.
