Bills clinch AFC East; Chiefs keep pace with Buffalo

CHICAGO — Devin Singletary and James Cook had long touchdowns in the second half to help the Buffalo Bills beat the Chicago Bears 35-13 on Saturday in the bitter cold.

Singletary ran for 106 yards to become the first Bills player this season to hit triple-digits in a game. His 33-yard burst on the opening drive of the second half put Buffalo on top for good. Josh Allen's two-point conversion pass to Khalil Shakir made the score 14-10.

The Bills (12-3) clinched their third straight division title as they try to stay on track to take the No. 1 seed in the AFC. Both the Bills and Kansas City have identical records, but the Bills own the tiebreaker as they defeated Chiefs back in October.

Allen ran for a touchdown and threw for another to pad the Bills lead in the late stages of the fourth quarter. His three scores highlighted a Buffalo offensive performance that was otherwise subpar.

Chicago’s Justin Fields passed for 119 yards and a touchdown. But was held to a season-low 11 yards as the Bills defense kept the Bears quarterback contained all day and didn't let him get loose.

A sparse crowd of bundled-up fans sat in 9 degree weather (minus-12 wind chill) to see the Bears (3-12) matched a franchise record eighth-consecutive loss.

Kansas City 24, Seattle 10

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A dominating effort by the Chiefs defense and a fourth quarter rushing score by Patrick Mahomes helped Kansas City secure a 24-10 win over the slumping Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

The win helps the Chiefs, with a 12-3 record, to keep pace with Buffalo for the best record in the AFC.

Mahomes finished the game with 16 of 28 for 224 yards and threw two touchdown passes.

The Chiefs defense turned away multiple scoring opportunities for the Seahawks. on fourth down and picked off quarterback Geno Smith in the end zone.

The Seahawks (7-8) have now lost five of their last six and Saturday's loss could possibly be the knockout blow to the playoff hopes for Pete Carroll's squad.

Travis Kelce hauled in six catches for 113 yards to lead the Chiefs receiving corps, and Kadarius Toney and Jerick McKinnon also had touchdown catches.

Kenneth Walker III was the lone bright spot for the Seahawks, rushing for 107 yards but was kept out of the end zone.

Like the rest of the country, Kansas City experienced frigid temperatures and was so cold the tarp was frozen to the field when the grounds crew tried to remove it three hours before kickoff.

Dallas 40, Philadelphia 34

ARLINGTON, Texas — Dak Prescott threw for 347 yards and three touchdowns and a go-ahead field goal from Brett Maher helped the Dallas Cowboys rally to beat the Philadelphia Eagles 40-34 on Sunday.

Trailing 34-27, Prescott hit T.Y. Hilton for a 52-yard strike on third-and-30 to give the wide out his first catch as a Cowboy and keep the drive alive. The play would set up CeeDee Lamb's seven-yard scoring toss from Prescott to tie the game up at 34 with 5:49 remaining in the game.

On the following possession, Gardner Minshew would throw his second interception of the day as rookie cornerback DaRon Bland ripped the ball away from Quez Watkins to help set up Maher's go-ahead field goal to give Dallas 37-34 lead.

Minshew has been filling in for Jalen Hurts, who remains out with injury. The backup quarterback threw two touchdown passes and ran for another,

Four days after speaking at the memorial service of his former college coach, Mike Leach, Minshew lead Philadelphia to the Dallas 19 for a potential game-winning touchdown in the final seconds. However his desperation pass into the end zone on fourth-and-10 wasn’t anywhere near a receiver and Dallas was able to run the clock out for the win.

The Eagles (13-2) missed a chance to clinch home-field advantage in the playoffs, but a win in the final two games would give them top spot in the NFC playoffs.

Dallas (11-4), who are already playoff bound, kept alive their faint hopes of repeating as NFC East Division champs.
