COLUMBUS — The Columbus Blue Jackets announced on Friday several moves ahead of the trade deadline, as the team reshuffles their roster for the future.
In a trade in Boston, the Blue Jackets acquired defenseman Jakub Zboril and a 2027 third-round pick in exchange for defenseman Andrew Peeke.
Peeke, 25, logged just 23 games with the Blue Jackets this season, averaging just 15:37 of ice time per game.
The defensive specialist player was a key piece of the Jackets defensive unit for the previous two seasons. He appeared in 162 games and averaged 21:22 of ice time. Peeke did block 197 shots last year, but was a minus-41.
In the second transaction of the day, forward Jack Roslovicwas dealt to the New York Rangers in exchange for a 4th round pick that could turn into a third if the Rangers make the Cup Final.
Roslovic, a Columbus-area native played in 246 games for the Blue Jackets. He had a stat line of 51-95-146 in four seasons. Many experts described his tenure in the Arch City as inconsistent at times.
The final trade of the day happened with the St. Louis, as the Jackets received goaltender Malcom Subban in exchange for future considerations. Subban was assigned to Triple-A affiliate Cleveland.
The Blue Jackets (22-32-10) currently sit at the bottom of the Metropolitan Division and have the worst record in the Eastern Conference. The team has been in house-cleaning mode since firing long-time general manager Jarmo Kekalainen on Feb. 15.
