FRANKLIN FURNACE — The Green Bobcats keep inching closer and closer to the Southern Ohio Conference title.
The Bobcats beat the Western Indians 63-54 on Friday to improve to 11-3 overall and remain unbeaten in the SOC at 8-0.
Levi Sampson scored a game-high 24 points to lead three players in double figures for Green. Gabe McBee scored 16 points and Abe McBee had 12.
Western (7-8, 3-3) was led by Drew Haggywith 22 and Chase Carter with 16.
Sampson scored 9 points and Gabe McBee had 6 points as Green jumped in front 18-11 in the first quarter.
Carter hit a 3-pointer and scored 5 points for Western.
The lead went to 36-25 at the half as Green scored 18 more points in the second quarter with Sampson and McBee doing most of the scoring again.
McBee hit a 3-pointer and was 5-of-6 at the foul line for 8 points and Sampson also had 8 points while Jon Knapp added a trifecta.
Carter hit another trey and had 5 points, Zach Teed scored 4 points and Haggy hit a triple for the Indians.
Western rallied in the third quarter and cut the deficit to just 46-41 as Haggy drained a pair of 3-pointers and scored 11 points with Logan Lightle and Colt Henderson making 3-pointers.
Knapp hit a 3-pointer, Abe McBee knocked down a trey and had a pair of free throws with Gabe McBee adding a basket for Green’s 10 points.
The Bobcats used clutch foul shooting in the fourth quarter by connecting on 11-of-16 attempts to seal the win.
Sampson was 6-of-10 as he scored 8 points in the quarter, Abe McBee was 2-of-2 at the line and got 4 points while Knapp hit a basket and sank a free throw.
Western’s 12 points came from Carter with 7 including a 3-pointer while Haggy scored 6.
