Bobcats rout Falcons in regular season finale

ATHENS – Senior Dwight Wilson III scored 20 points to help lead the Ohio Men's Basketball team to a 92-58 Senior Night romp over the Bowling Green Falcons on Friday night.

The win capped off a season that saw the Bobcats finish 14-1 at home.

Wilson III also registered seven rebounds, going 8-of-10 from the field and 4-of-4 from the line. Senior guard Miles Brown dished out a career-high five assists and freshmen guards Elmore James scored 17 points and AJ Brown added 14 points, including three 3-pointers.

AJ Clayton chipped in 12 points and Jaylin Hunter scored eight points, pulled in six boards and had five assists.

Ohio (18-13, 10-8 MAC) built a 11-5 lead with a dunk and layup from Wilson III and driving layup from James that was set up by a steal by Hunter.

The Bobcats continued to extend their lead with layups from Roderick and James, to take a 27-12 lead and force Bowling Green to burn a timeout.

The Falcons (11-20, 5-13 MAC) would hit a 3-pointer to trim Ohio's lead down to 10 with 5:30 remaining, but the Bobcats would respond with a 21-0 run, highlighted by slam from Hunter and five-straight made threes, with four from Clayton, giving Ohio a 31-point lead.

Another three from the Falcons with 55 seconds remaining in the half stopped the Ohio run, but the damage was done and the Bobcats took a 54-26 lead into the locker room.

Ohio would build their lead to its largest of the game – 37 points – on a three-pointer from freshman guard Ajay Sheldon late in the second half and the Bobcats cruised to a 92-58 win.

Samari Curtis had 11 points and seven rebounds to lead the Falcons. Leon Ayers III added 11 points,

Ohio will now head to Cleveland for the 2023 Mid-American Conference Tournament on March 9, where the fifth-seeded Bobcats will take on No. 4 Ball State inside Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.
