Buckeyes fall to Michigan

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Despite a career-high 22 point performance by freshman Bruce Thornton, the Ohio State Buckeyes fell to the Michigan Wolverines 77-69 on Sunday afternoon.

The loss is the Buckeyes' ninth in the last 10 games.

Thornton went 10-of-13 from the floor and 2-of-3 from beyond the arc to tally his 22 points. Coming into Sunday, Thornton had scored just 23 points during the previous six games.

Brice Sensabaugh and Justice Sueing both finished with 14 points each. Sensabaugh finished with a team-high nine rebounds.

Michigan would use a 7-0 run midway through the opening half to open up a 24-14 lead.

But the Buckeyes would fight their way back behind with nine points from Thornton to trim Michigan's lead to three and trail 41-36 at halftime.

Sensabaugh would drain a 3-pointer in transition to get the Buckeyes within 50-47 early in the second half.

But Michigan responded with a 6-0 run and would hold a double digit lead for the remainder of the game.

Ohio State returns home for a matchup against Northwestern on Thursday night. Tip is set for 8 p.m. and game will be on FS1. The Buckeyes won the first meeting this season, 73-57 on Jan. 1 in Evanston.
