College Football: What we know after Week 7

Whatever we said before about the SEC title race, throw it out

The Volunteers proved they might be a worthy contender as Chase McGrath's 40-yard field goal sailed over the crossbar yesterday. So it's fair to think they might be able to contend for the SEC East crown now.

There's still plenty of challenges ahead for the Vols. Such as their home date with Kentucky in two weeks, then at No. 1 Georgia and then a very tough road test at South Carolina next month.

For now, Tennessee is a major surprise and its refreshing to see someone else stepping into the spotlight besides the usuals. So we'll all wait and see how it pans out in the comings weeks.

The milestone no on wants

The Indiana Hoosiers met a new milestone as they lost to the Maryland Terrapins 38-33 on Saturday, but it's not exactly one that anyone would be excited to talk about.

The Hoosier football team are now the first NCAA Division I team to reach 700 all-time losses.

Historically, the program has struggled a lot over the years trying to sustain a winning program since it's inception in 1887. In fact no coach has left Indiana with a winning record since the late 1940's.

Not exactly the thing you want to pitch to future players in your recruiting circles.

Upsets Galore!

There was a slew of upsets on Saturday. Some greater than others and some more damaging than others.

By far the story of the day was Tennessee taking down Alabama, but the lowkey upset of the day was Utah upsetting USC.

This loss might have not only prevented the Trojans from a playoff spot, but it also could mean no PAC 12 team will make it.

The same goes for Oklahoma State, as they fell to TCU. The Cowboys were making a great case for squeezing into a playoff spot, but this loss might hurt the Big 12's chances of a representative as well.
