Cyclones Feast on Fort Wayne in win on Thanksgiving night

FORT WAYNE, Indiana — Lee Lapid scored twice and four others netted a goal each, as the Cincinnati Cyclones shut out the Fort Wayne Komets 6-0 on Thanksgiving night to remain undefeated on the road.


Cincinnati net minder Mark Sinclair stopped all 43 shots to earn his second career shut out, with both coming in back-to-back road starts. Sinclair is also now 5-0 in starts this season in net for the Cyclones.


The Cyclones got on the board late in the first period on a power play goal when Komets goaltender Colton Point made a save, only bobble the puck in front of the net. Matt Berry located the loose puck and shoved it into the net to give Cincinnati a 1-0 lead.


Dajon Mingo would follow up a little more than two minutes later with a rebound shot from the low slot that zoomed by Point to give the Cyclones a 2-0 advantage with 1:18 remaining in the opening period.


Cincinnati continued to pile on the scoring in the second period as Brandon Yeamans received a behind-the-net pass from teammate Zack Andrusiak and buried the puck home to extend the lead to 3-0.


Lee Lapid scored consecutive goals for the Cylones, the first goal came off a backhand shot late in the second period. Lapid's second goal came early in the final period as Point turned over the puck deep in his own zone and the Cyclones forward capitalized on the mishap for his fourth goal of the season.


The final score of the night came from Louie Caporusso at 5:28 in the third period, who redirected a puck sent towards the next to earn his fifth goal of the season.


The Cyclones (10-1-0-1) sit atop of the Central Division with 21 points on the season. Fort Wayne (4-5-1-2) have now lost six straight games on home ice.


Cincinnati continues it's three-game road trip on Saturday night against the Iowa Heartlanders in the first of a two-game series this weekend between the two teams. The Cyclones will be back at home on Friday, Dec. 2 against the Toledo Walleye.
