Cyclones pick up point in loss to Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The Kalamazoo Wings erased a 3-0 deficit in the third period to force overtime, where Max Humitz buried the puck into the back of the net for a 4-3 win over the Cincinnati Cyclones at Wings Event Center.

Matt Berry registered his fifth goal of the season to give the Cyclones an early 1-0 when the veteran winger skated into the slot and buzzed a shot past goalie Hunter Vorva at the 2:43 mark.

Nearly midway through the period, Josh Passolt took advantage of a Wings turnover at top of their own crease and slid the puck into the back of the Kalamazoo net for the 2-0 lead.

Cincinnati would add one more goal in the period, this time thanks in part to their special teams.

The Cyclones would get a four minute power play, thanks to a double-minor penalty by Kalamazoo. Zack Andrusiak would get the honors, shooting the puck from the right wing to give Cincinnati a 3-0 lead after one period. Andrusiak has now scored a goal in five straight games.

After a scoreless second, the Wings' offense came to life, scoring three goals in a span of 10 minutes. Their first goal came on the power play, as Matheson Iacopelli's shot found the back of the net to cut the deficit to two.

Anthony Collins would put shot towards the net, that squeaked it way through the legs of Beck Warm at 11:33 to make the score 3-2 in favor of Cincinnati.

Then finally the Wings tied the game up, when Brandon Saigeon got a breakaway and slid the puck home for the game-tying goal to send the game into overtime.

Warm finished the night with 28 saves on 32 shots.

Despite the loss, the Cyclones finished the opening third of the season with a 15-4-3-2 record and are currently tide for first place in the Central Division.

Cincinnati's end a four game road trip on Friday night as they face the Indy Fuel.
