Cyclones pick up point in Kansas City

Updated: Apr 13

KANSAS CITY, MO – Mike Ferraro scored the lone goal for the Cincinnati Cyclones who fell to the Kansas City Mavericks in a 2-1 overtime loss on Wednesday night.

Cincinnati got on the board first for the second-straight night in Kansas City, as Ferraro took the puck into the Mavericks zone, fed a pass to teammate Jarrett Lee, who then sent it back to Ferraro who lasered a one-timer past goalie Cale Morris for the goal.

The Cyclones maintained their lead through a scoreless second period, as they got key stops from Talyn Boyko, who finished with 32 saves on the night.

The Mavericks tied the game up in the third, when Patrick Curry scored his 39th goal of the season in the opening minute of the five-minute power play. The Cyclones managed to kill off the rest of the extended man-advantage and force overtime to pick up the point.

Jacob Hayhurst delivered the game-winner in the overtime period, putting a wrist shot over the shoulder of Boyko to give Kansas City the win.

Cincinnati concludes their regular season on Saturday, as they travel to Wheeling, WV to face the Nailers. Puck drops at 7:00pm ET in Wheeling.
