Cyclones set club record for point streak behind Sinclair's performance

CINCINNATI — Goaltender Mark Sinclair stopped 34 shots and Justin Vaive's third period goal gave the Cincinnati Cyclones a gritty 2-1 win over Central Division rival Fort Wayne Komets on Sunday.

Sinclair's play has been at a high-level over the past three games since filling in for starter Beck Warm, who has been sidelined due to having his wisdom teeth removed.

Warm currently leads the ECHL with 24 wins.

The Cyclones have now recorded points in 18 consecutive games, breaking the franchise's record of 17 that was set back in 2008.

Cincinnati has also now posted six-straight wins and leapfrogged Toledo to take first place in the Central Division.

Fort Wayne would tie the game with 2:42 remaining in the middle frame, on a shorthanded goal from Darien Kielb, who blazed a shot past the glove-side of Sinclair.

Vaive would break the tie with his 29th goal of the season just 1:19 into the final period. The captain chased the puck down the ice and cut towards the net from the right-wing side, firing a wrister that Komet goalie Ryan Fanti got a piece of before the puck snuck behind him into the net.

Sinclair shut down the Komets for the rest of regulation, turning aside 18 shots.

Fanti was just as impressive despite taking the loss, stopping 45 shots for Fort Wayne.

Cincinnati now heads out west for a three-set against the Utah Grizzlies.
