Dragons Continue Hot Steak With Win Over Pointers

SOUTH POINT — The Fairland Dragons are kicking into gear.
After starting the season 1-4, the Dragons beat the South Point Pointers 7-4 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Wednesday for their 4th win in the last 6 games.
Fairland improved to 5-6 overall and stayed unbeaten in the OVC at 4-0.
South Point is now 2-6 and 2-3 in the league.
The Dragons got 12 hits as Garrett Cornwell went 3-4 with 2 runs batted in, Wyatt Thomas 2-4 with a triple and 2 RBI, Ethan Wall 2-2 with a double, Josh Gillespie 2-4, Luke Brown 1-4 and Elias Blankenship 2-4 with an RBI.
Wall worked the first 5 innings for the win. He gave up 7 hits, 4 earned runs, struck out 4 and walked 4. Thomas got the save as he went 2 innings, gave up one hit and struck out 3.
Kolton Layman was 3-4 and Joey Lobaldo 2-4 with a double and 2 RBI to lead the Pointers. Braden Hanshaw was 1-3, Owen Tabor 1-2 with an RBI and Caesyn Pope was 1-4 with a double and an RBI.
