PORTSMOUTH — The Fairland Dragons decided to double up.
The Dragons had 4 players in double figures as they beat the Unioto Shermans 59-43 at Shawnee State University on Sunday.
Chase Allen scored 16 points to lead the Dragons with Keegan Smith getting 14 points, Brody Buchanan 13 and Will Davis had 10.
Smith also had 7 rebounds and 2 steals. Allen had 4 assists and Davis handed out 3.
Fairland had its offense rolling in the first quarter as Allen hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored 10 points while Smith added a trey and scored 7 more points and the lead was 20-11.
Blake Fitch had 6 points and K.B. Perkins 4 points in the quarter for Unioto (1-2).
The offenses did an about face and went into slow gear as Fairland outscored Unioto 9-7 in the second quarter and it was 29-18 at the half.
Buchanan scored 4 points and Cliff Fransen hit a triple for Fairland while Zeke Schobelock hit a 3-pointer and scored 5 points for Unioto.
Each team scored 11 points in the third quarter and Fairland was up 40-29.
Buchanan had 4 more points and Smith hit a 3-pointer for the Dragons while Blake Hoops scored 6 points for the Shermans.
The Dragons outscored the Shermans 19-14 in the fourth quarter. Fairland was 10-of-14 from the line as Davis scored 6 points including 4-of-4 at the line and Buchanan was 3-of-4.
Fitch had 4 points and Caden Cutright hit a 3-pointer in the fourth for Unioto.
Fitch had 12 points and Perkins 10 for Unioto.
Fairland will host Gallipolis on Tuesday.
