PROCTORVILLE — The Fairland Dragons ganged up on the Rock Hill Redmen.
No, no. It wasn’t a physical altercation but it was actually 4 Fairland pitchers ganging up for a 2-hitter as the Dragons beat the Redmen 7-2 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Monday.
Ethan Wall went the first 3 innings and did not allow a hit, struck out 6 and walked one. Blaze Perry went 2 innings, gave up a hit, fanned 5 and walked 2. Garrett Cornwell went one inning allowing 2 runs, one hit with a walk, and Brycen Hunt went the final inning with 3 strikeouts and a walk.
Fairland took a 3-0 lead in the first inning.
Hunt and Perry walked, Alex Morgan grounded out for a run, Walls doubled for a run and Luke Brown had an RBI groundout.
The lead went to 2-0 in the second when Keegan Smith walked, stole second and scored on a hit by Hunt. An outfield error allowed Hunt to score.
A run scored in the fourth when Smith singled and scored when Hunt singled and there was an error on the play.
The Redmen got their 2 runs in the top of the sixth.
Braxton Harper was hit by a pitch, Ethan Blagg singled and both scored when Connor Blagg reached on a 2-out, 2-base error.
The Dragons got a run back in the bottom of the inning when Ben Southard singled, stole second and scored on Hunt’s hit.
Hunt was 3-3 with an RBI as the Dragons got 6 hits. Wall was 1-3 with a double and an RBI, Southard 1-3 and Smith 1-2 with an RBI.
The Rock Hill hits were singled by Dylan Griffith in the fifth inning and a seventh inning single by Ethan Blagg.
