IRONTON — Saints Be Praised is a saying for when something good and even unexpected happens. Well, it was good for the St. Joseph Flyers but not the Saints from St. Patrick.
The Flyers had their offense in high gear as they routed the Saints 75-32 in the Flyer Invitational.
The Flyers (4-1) jumped in front 23-10 in the first quarter as Wesley Neal scored 11 points with Carter Johnson and Eli Whaley netting 4 points each.
Amari Merick scored 6 points for the Saints.
The lead grew to 40-21 in the second quarter as Neal got 4 more points and Johnson and Zane Dressel scored 4 points apiece.
Rudy Ignacio hit a 3-pointer and Myrick had 4 points for St. Patrick.
The Flyers took total control in the third quarter by outscoring the Saints 23-5 to build a 53-26 cushion.
Whaley dropped in 6 points while Landon Rowe scored 5 points and Neal and Carson Willis scored 4 each.
Dressel scored 6 points and Mason Weber 4 as the Flyers outscored the Saints 12-6 in the fourth quarter.
Neal had another big game with 20 points, 4 steals and a couple assists. Dressel scored a career-high 15 points while Eli Whaley scored 12 points along with 3 assists and Rowe got 9 points 3 assists and 3 steals.
Myrick had 12 points for the Saints (0-7).
