COLUMBUS — The Ohio Valley Conference sent 2 teams to the Final Four. They had 6 players named All-Ohio.
It was a banner year for the OVC in girls basketball led by the Portsmouth Lady Trojans making their first-ever state tournament appearance while the Fairland Lady Dragons were in the Division 2 Final Four a second straight season.
The Ohio High School Sports Writers Association announced its Division 3 and Division 4 All-Ohio selections on Monday and the Portsmouth Lady Trojans had District Player of the Year Sienna Allen named first team All-Ohio and teammate Daysha Reid selected third team All-Ohio.
Named to the Division 3 All-Ohio special mention list were Chesapeake Lady Panthers 5-foot-6 junior point guard Kate Ball and South Point Lady Pointers 5-8 senior guard Camille Hall.
Ball averaged 16 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals a game while Hall averaged 14 points, 8 rebounds and 3.5 steals a game.
Both players were first team All-Southeast District.
On the D3 All-Ohio honorable mention list were the Coal Grove Lady Hornets’ 5-7 senior Alivia Noel and the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers 5-8 junior Emerson White.
Noel averaged 12.8 points and 6-7 rebounds a game while White averaged 15.5 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 4.5 steals a game.
Named Division 4 special mention were Symmes Valley Lady Vikings 5-9 senior Desiree Simpson and Green Lady Bobcats 6-foot-1 freshman Abbie Knapp.
Simpson — All-Ohio last season — was first team all-district and averaged 13 points and 13 rebounds a game.
Knapp was first team all-district selection and averaged 25.4 a game.
Divisions 1 and 2 will be released on Tuesday.
