Golden Knights top scorer Jack Eichel placed on IR

LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Vegas Golden Knights leading scorer Jack Eichel was placed on injured reserve due to a lower-body injury, the team confirmed Monday.

The designation means Eichel must miss at least seven days dating back to when he couldn't physically play.

Eichel leads the team with 13 goals and 16 assists, which is third on the team.

The Knights currently lead the Pacific Division with 41 points, but Eichel's injury is the latest in several key player being missing from the Vegas lineup.

Defensemen Shea Theodore (lower body) and Alex Pietrangelo (family illness) also have been out.

The Knights announced on Twitter the were recalling Jonas Rondbjerg, Brayden Pachal and Kaedan Korczak from their American Hockey League affiliate in Henderson, Nev.

Eichel missed three of the past four games, having played in Friday's game with Philadelphia but was out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Boston.

The Knights play at Winnipeg on Tuesday night and should be announcing additional roster moves later on Monday.

Vegas acquired Eichel from the Buffalo Sabres in block-buster deal back in November 2021.

He got into a dispute with Buffalo management over what kind of surgery he should undergo for a herniated disk, which ultimately led to his departure from the team.

Vegas agreed to let Eichel have artificial disk replacement, something that no NHL player had undergone to that point. He recovered from the procedure and made his debut with the team in February.
