Herd Football makes staff additions, promotions

By GRANT TRAYLOR

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Football head coach Charles Huff announced the completion of the 2024 Marshall Football staff on Monday.

“We are extremely excited to have finalized this year’s staff,” Huff said. “With appreciation and respect to those coaches and staff members that have moved on, this  year’s group brings new energy and ideas that I think will definitely help us take a step closer to the goals and development that we have set for the 2024 team.”

Monday’s announcement features the hiring of Josh Miller as the Herd’s new tight ends coach.

Miller comes to Marshall from Purdue where he worked as an offensive analyst last season where he led advance scouting and opponent breakdown while working directly with the offensive coordinator for game-planning responsibilities.

Miller joins a revamped Marshall offensive staff that also features new offensive personnel for 2024 in offensive coordinator Seth Doege, offensive line coach Cody Crill and wide receivers coach Aaron Dobson – all of whom were named to their respective positions in January.

Prior to his time at Purdue, Miller worked as an offensive coordinator at the Division II level at Midwestern State (2022-23) and Saginaw Valley State (2020-21).

Miller also has previous FBS experience as the inside wide receivers coach at Bowling Green in 2018.

As previously announced on the defensive side, Bob Shoop moved from analyst to secondary coach in January while defensive coordinator Jason Semore will be in charge of the linebackers.

Support staff promotions include Kate Roll moving into a role as the Manager of Football Operations and Assistant to the Head Coach while Reed Grable and Will Drew also moving up into roles as Director of Player Personnel. Drew will also serve as Marshall Football’s Pro Liaison.

New support staff additions for the 2024 season include Adam Carr, Joe Denney and Theron Aych being added to the staff as offensive analysts while Stephen Copeland joins the staff as a special teams analyst.

Sydney Spears will serve as Marshall’s new Director of Recruiting Operations.

Marshall Football starts its 2024 spring practice schedule on Monday, March 25. The team will conduct 15 practices, culminating with the annual Spring Game at 4 p.m. on April 20.
