Herd Hoops pick up win over Glenville State

HUNTINGTON – The Marshall Thundering Herd used a 24-0 run to breeze past the Glenville State Pioneers with a 99-73 win on Monday night at the Cam Henderson Center.


Micah Handlogten registered his fourth double-double of the season, as he made five of his seven attempts from the field to tally 13 points and 14 rebounds. He also blocked five shots.

Andrew Taylor led scorers with 22 points behind a 9-for-20 shooting night, including 4 three-point goals. Junior Obinna Anochili-Killen added 17 points.


Fifth-year senior Taevion Kinsey scored 12 points, hauled in seven rebounds and registered a game-high seven assists. Kamdyn Curfman added 10 points in the Herd's victory.


Ahead 41-38 with 2:09 left in the first half, Kinsey threw down a dunk. His slam ignited a 10-0 run by the Herd to close the opening half. Anochili-Killen contributing the last five points on the run. His final two points, a put back dunk at the buzzer, gave Marshall a 51-38 lead at the break.


Marshall continued their run for the first four minutes of the second half, scoring the first 14 points out of halftime.


Handlogten scored eight of his 13 points during the 24-0 run to help give the Herd a 65-38 lead at the 16:20 mark.


Marshall ballooned its lead to 31 points after Anochil-Killen hit a jumper with 14:20 left on the clock to give the Herd a 71-40 advantage.


The Herd (11-2) will host Appalachian State on December 29th in their inaugural Sun Belt Conference game. Tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
