  • The defense will be tasked with stopping the Rebels balanced attack. Good, fundamental play will do the trick.

South Gallia:

  • The Rebels must get get into a rhythm early to allow their balanced offensive attack to be effective.

  • Defensively, South Gallia will need to be able to play in space and stop the Vikings' ground attack.

Eastern Eagles (9-0, 4-0 SOC I) @ Green Bobcats (1-8, 0-4 SOC I)

When: Friday, October 20, 7:00 PM

Where: Green Bobcats Stadium, Franklin Furnace, OH

The Eagles are looking to secure two things on Friday: a 10-0 record and the No. 1 spot in the region for the playoffs. For the Bobcats, they will be looking to send their seniors out on a high note on senior night.

Eastern:

  • Execution and finishing drives will be important for the offense to take control of this game quickly.

  • In order to limit Green's offense, Eastern will need to control the line of scrimmage on Friday and force the Bobcats to put the ball in the air.

Green:

  • The Bobcats will need a big effort from their rushing attack to keep Eastern's offense off the field.

  • The defense may need to get creative in stopping Eastern's offense and limit their big play capabilities.

Gallia Academy Blue Devils (7-2, 4-2 OVC) @ South Point Pointers (5-4, 3-3 OVC)

Time: Friday, October 20, 7:00 PM

Where: Alumni Stadium, South Point, OH

Lots of things on the line in this match up this Friday. South Point needs a win to climb back up in the playoff seedings in their region. For Gallia Academy, a win could give them a shot at a home game next weekend in the first round of the playoffs.

Gallia Academy:

  • The Blue Devils showed big play abilities last week, but not all the time. Getting a rhythm early will be important.

  • Defensively, the Blue Devils will be tested by South Point's array of backs. Goof, physical play up front will be a good starting point.

South Point:

  • The Pointers need to avoid turnovers and finish drives. Positive plays and avoiding mental errors will be important on Friday.

  • The defense will need to contain the Blue Devils skill players on the outside. This means playing disciplined ball in space.

Coal Grove Hornets (4-5, 1-5 OVC) @ Rock Hill Redmen (3-6, 1-5 OVC)

There's plenty of playoff storylines in this one. While Coal Grove may make it into the playoffs, a win would ensure a better place in the region. For the Redmen, a win and their in. And let's not forget how much the rivalry game means to both squads.

Coal Grove:

  • Offensively, the Hornets will need to avoid turnovers and find their rhythm early. Expect to see an array of backs get carries in this one.

  • The defense will need to limit Rock Hill's success on early down and force obvious passing situations.

Rock Hill:

  • The Redmen must win the battle in the trenches. Opening up holes for their backs and keeping the Hornets on defense will be pivotal.

  • The defense will need to limit Coal Grove's success in the running game. It'll start by playing physical up front.

Fairland Dragons (8-1, 5-1 OVC)@ Chesapeake Panthers (3-5, 0-5 OVC)

Time: Friday, October 20, 7:00 PM

These two teams renew their rivalry again on Chesapeake's senior night. If the Panthers want to play in the postseason, they have their work cut out for them against a potent Fairland offense.

Fairland:

  • The Dragons need to keep the same momentum that they've had over the past couple weeks. So spreading the ball out to their playmakers will be key.

  • The defense must limit Chesapeake's success in the ground game on early downs and force them to dive deeper into their playbook.

Chesapeake:

  • The Panthers must find ways to shorten the game and finish drives, as to keep the Fairland offense off the field.

  • The Panther defense will be pressed to find ways to contain Fairland's scoring threats on the outside and make them methodically drive the ball.

Portsmouth Trojans (5-4, 4-2 OVC) @ Ironton Fighting Tigers (8-1, 6-0 OVC)

Time: Friday, October 20, 7:00 PM

For the most part, Ironton has everything sewn up: an OVC championship and the top spot in the region. However, the only thing left is a win over rival Portsmouth. Now for the Trojans, they're going to need to win if they want to play in week 11.

Portsmouth:

  • Portsmouth must avoid a slow start on Friday. This means getting the ground game going early to keep Ironton on their heels.

  • The defense will tasked at stopping Ironton's explosive offense. Good, disciplined play and cutting down running lanes will be critical.

Ironton:

  • The Tiger offense has a great amount of athleticism at their disposal. Finding their identity early will be the key to their success on Friday.

  • Penalties and limiting costly mistakes will be two of the biggest obstacles for Ironton on Friday.
