Rock Hill (2-2) @ Fairland Dragons (3-1)
Time: Friday, September 15, 7:00 PM
Where: Jim Mayo Memorial Stadium, Proctorville, OH
Last season's game came down to the wire as the Redmen fell shy at home. This year, the Dragons will look to avoid any similarities from last season.
Rock Hill:
The Redmen will need to limit the possessions of Fairland's explosive offense. So the best way to do so, is to sustain drives and eat up the clock.
The defense is going to be tested on the outside by Fairland's skill players. It will be important to play assignment football and have all 11 players pursuit the ballcarrier.
Fairland:
The Dragons offense will have an advantage at the receiver position. So expect to see Keegan Smith, Brycen Hunt, Jack Hayden and Co. involved early.
Defensively, the Fairland will need to limit the Redmen's success on early downs and avoid letting their rushing attack dominate the tempo of the game.
Symmes Valley Vikings (1-3) @ Manchester Greyhounds (0-4)
When: Friday, September 15, 7:00 PM
Where: Veterans Stadium, Manchester, OH
The Vikings make another long road trip, this time to Adams County. Symmes Valley will be looking to start SOC play at 1-0. The Greyhounds will be vying for their first win of the season.
Symmes Valley:
Offensively, the Vikings must get good production on early downs. This will open up the playbook as the game wears on.
The defense will be tasked at limiting big plays and forcing the Greyhounds offense off the field.
Manchester:
The Greyhounds offense will need a complete effort from their size up front and their athleticism of their skill players.
On defense, Manchester must hold down the Vikings rushing attack and make them one-dimensional.
Fairview Eagles (0-4) @ Green Bobcats (1-3)
Time: Friday, September 15, 7:30 PM
Where: Southern Football Stadium, Racine, OH
The Bobcats will be looking to make it three-in-a-row against the Eagles on Friday. It's been a competitive series so far, with plenty of scoring from both teams. Green will be looking to grab another win before heading into a tough slate of SOC games.
Fairview:
The Eagles will look to spread the Bobcats defense out. So getting their skill players in space to make plays will be key.
Fairview's defense must not allow long, time-consuming drives by the Bobcats. Which means not allowing their backs to gain large chunks at a time.
Green:
The rushing attack must find success early. This means good, positive yardage on early downs.
The defense will be tasked at stopping Fairview's spread attack. So pursuing the ball and cutting down open lanes will be important.
Game of the Week: Chesapeake Panthers (3-1) @ Coal Grove Hornets (3-1)
Time: Friday, September 15, 7:00 PM
Where: Lemaster Stadium, Coal Grove, OH
The Hornets have held onto the "Little Brown Jug" successfully for three-straight seasons. However, the Panthers are thinking it would look much nicer in their trophy case this year. It could also be a quick game as both teams' rushing attacks should be on full display this Friday.
Chesapeake:
Offensively, the Panthers have a speed advantage with their backfield. So it will be key to get them outside and in space to make plays.
The Panther defense will need to find a way to force the Hornets into obvious passing situations. This means cutting down big gains on first and second downs.
Finishing drives and avoiding costly turnovers will be major keys to winning this rivalry game.
Coal Grove:
The Hornet offense will have a good size advantage on Friday. This could benefit the backfield greatly.
The defense will need to prevent Chesapeake's rushers from attacking the edges of the defense and keep their speedster from getting loose.
Not allowing any turnovers will be important this Friday, as they were a killer last week for the Hornets.
Game of the Week: Ironton Fighting Tigers (3-1) at South Point Pointers (3-1)
Time: Friday, September 15, 7:00 PM
Where: Alumni Stadium, Ironton, OH
Ironton must be on upset alert this week and avoid a hangover from last week's loss. The Pointers will be coming into Friday with a three-game winning streak and plenty of confidence. There could be a lot of exciting plays in this one, as both teams feature big play capabilities.
Ironton:
Offensively, Ironton will need to establish his identity early on and keep the pressure on South Point's defense.
The defense will need to slow down the Pointers run game and not allow their backs to find running lanes.
The Tigers must overcome the turnover bug that plagued them last week and not allow the Pointers short fields to work with.
South Point:
Offensively, the Pointers have an experienced offensive line and a good mix at the running back position. So expect to see a lot of their ground attack.
The Pointers will need to hold down Ironton's big play capabilities.
South Point must avoid costly errors and penalties. They could be drive killers for the offense or extend drives for Ironton's offense.
