South Point Pointers (2-4, 0-3) @ Fairland Dragons (4-2, 1-2)
Time: Friday, September 30, 7:00 PM
Where: Jim Mayo Memorial Stadium, Proctorville, OH
The Dragons come into this game looking to shake off last week's tough loss at Gallia Academy. Meanwhile, South Point is reeling from 3 straight losses and in search of a win that can punch their ticket for postseason play.
South Point:
The Pointer offense will need to make every play count this week as keeping the Fairland offense off the field will be their best defense.
The defense is going to need to come up with a way to steal couple possessions from the Dragons. Forcing a few turnovers would help their cause on Friday.
Fairland:
The Dragons need to just get back to basics. Letting quarterback Peyton Jackson put the ball in the air will be as basic as it gets.
Fairland's defense will need to contain Pointers quarterback Jordan Ermalovich from using his feet to scramble out of trouble or extend plays.
Eastern Eagles (1-5) @ Symmes Valley Vikings (1-4)
Time: Friday, September 30, 7:00 PM
Where: Vikings Stadium, Willow Wood, OH
Both teams are in need of a win in a bad way. Especially the Vikings who are not exactly used to this. A win on Friday for Symmes Valley could help turn things around and get them on track for the remaining SOC schedule
Eastern:
Points could be at a premium in this game, so the Eagles will need to limit turnovers and maker every possession count.
The defense will need to keep the Vikings from getting their run game going. Expect the Eagles to jam defenders up tight and stop the run.
Symmes Valley:
Getting the offense into a rhythm early will be important. So expect to see
The Vikings have had trouble scoring as of late, so the defense will need to keep the Eagle offense out of the endzone as much as it can.
Green Bobcats (6-0) @ Notre Dame Titans (2-4)
When: Saturday, October 1, 7:00 PM
Where: Spartan Stadium, Portsmouth, OH
This will be good test for the Bobcats as they gear up for their game against Northwest next week. However, Green needs to keep their focus and not make this a "trap game" as Notre Dame is very capable of knocking off the Bobcats.
Green:
Getting the ground game going early will make things easier for the Bobcat offense. So expect to see plenty of Nathaniel Brannigan carrying the rock.
Because both teams are run oriented, this game will be won in the trenches. The Bobcats will need to play physical as they have all season to make that happen.
Notre Dame:
Offensively, Notre Dame may need to go to the air to stretch out the Bobcat defense, so expect quarterback Wyatt Webb to make a splash on Saturday.
The Titans need to keep the Bobcats from controlling the clock and churning out first downs. Early down plays will be a big factor for the defense.
Ironton Fighting Tigers (6-0) @ Rock Hill Redmen (3-3)
Time: Friday, September 30, 7:00 PM
Where: Redmen Stadium, Pedro, OH
Ironton has been coasting along as of late as they're piling up points in league play as they gear up for the playoffs. The Redmen have improved overall as the season has progressed but it will take a monumental effort to keep this game in check.
Ironton:
The Tigers need to simply control the line of scrimmage if they want to take care of business this week.
Last week the Tigers had a couple instances of mistakes and untimely penalties. They'll need to continue eliminating them in order to succeed down the road.
Rock Hill:
The Redmen will need to play keep away from a potent Tiger offense. So they need to be able to control the line of scrimmage and gain first downs.
The defense has a tall task of trying to stop a an array of offensive weapons from Ironton. Being physical up front will need to be the starting point.
Portsmouth Trojans (3-3) @ Chesapeake Panthers (2-4)
Time: Friday, September 30, 7:00 PM
Where: Panther Stadium, Chesapeake, OH
The Trojans are in good spirits after their big road win against Coal Grove and looking to get back to above .500 Friday night. Chesapeake is in search of some relief as they finish the final game of this brutal 4-game stretch of their schedule.
Portsmouth:
One thing the Trojans have had trouble with over the season is establishing a consistent rushing attack. This week would be a good chance to work on that.
Portsmouth's defense will be tasked at controlling the line of scrimmage and preventing the Panthers from getting to the outside.
Chesapeake:
The Panthers need to establish their ground game to keep the clock moving and keep the ball away from the Trojans.
On the defensive side, stopping Trojan quarterback Tyler Duncan from using both his arm and legs will help the Panthers on Friday.
Game of the Week: Gallia Academy Blue Devils (6-0, 3-0) @ Coal Grove Hornets (5-1, 2-1)
Time: Friday, September 30, 7:00 PM
Where: Lemaster Stadium, Coal Grove, OH
The Hornets have no time to lament their heartbreaking loss last week as they host the undefeated Blue Devils on Friday. You can probably expect another high scoring affair as both teams can score quickly and at any time.
Gallia Academy:
The offense has plenty of speed at the skill position. Using that could be a big advantage on Friday.
Portsmouth was able to air it out with great success last week. So we could see Devils quarterback Brody Fellure do the same this Friday.
The Blue Devils need to limit the Hornets' gains on early downs and force them into 3rd down situations they don't want to be in.
Coal Grove:
Turnovers were a problem last week for the Hornet offense. Cleaning those up can be a big difference in the outcome of this game on Friday.
A game such as this means the Hornets need to rely on their three best weapons: Chase Hall, Steven Simpson, and Kaden Murphy.
The Hornets have to prevent the speed of the Devil offense from getting out on the edge, whether it be on the ground or in the air.
