Notre Dame comes into Friday's game reeling from a tough loss last week. The Vikings will be geared up and ready for a Senior Night clash. Symmes Valley needs to notch a win for a post season berth.

Portsmouth Notre Dame:

  • The Titans will need to shake off last week's loss and reset. So the offense needs to get off to a fast start.

  • The defense will need to be able to play in space and stop the Vikings rushing attack.

Symmes Valley:

  • The Vikings must keep Notre Dame's offense off the field. First downs and execution will be critical on Friday.

  • The defense prevent the Titans from gaining any early momentum. Forcing long down-and-distance situations will help limit their success.

Green Bobcats (1-7, 0-3 SOC I) @ Sciotoville East Tartans (3-4, 1-2 SOC I)

When: Friday, October 13, 7:00 PM

Where: Allard Park, Sciotoville, OH

Despite losing last week, the Bobcats showed some fight is still left in them. So expect to see Green come out looking to avenge last season's loss. The Tartans are fighting for a better playoff seed on Friday.

Green:

  • The Bobcats will lean on their two-pronged rushing attack of Blake Smith and Braxton Conschafsky to set the pace on Friday.

  • The defense needs to bottle up East on early downs and force obvious passing situations.

Sciotoville East:

  • The Tartans must use their speed to their advantage. Getting the ball out into space will be a big factor.

  • In order to stop Green's ground attack, East will need to control the line of scrimmage on Friday.

South Point Pointers (5-3, 3-2 OVC) @ Portsmouth Trojans (4-4, 3-2 OVC)

Time: Friday, October 13, 7:00 PM

Where: Trojan Coliseum, Portsmouth, OH

This one is a critical game for both team's playoff aspirations. A win should guarantee a game in week 11. For Portsmouth, they'll be looking to send their seniors out with a win on Senior Night. The Pointers are looking to build momentum off last week's win.

South Point:

  • The Pointers will continue their success on the ground. Expect to see the majority of the carries from Eli Wilburn and Blaine Freemnan.

  • The defense will be ready to stop Portsmouth ground attack. This means physical play and good pursuit to the ball.

Portsmouth:

  • Portsmouth must find be at their best when executing on Friday. This means avoiding turnovers and finishing drives.

  • The defense will tasked at stopping South Point's rushing attack. This means solid, physical play in the trenches and limiting big gains on early downs.

Fairland Dragons (7-1, 4-1 OVC) @ Coal Grove Hornets (4-4, 1-4 OVC)

Time: Friday, October 13, 7:00 PM

Where: Lemaster Stadium, Coal Grove, OH

The Hornets will be looking to return home and bounce back from a tough loss last week. Ironton is looking to continue their march towards an OVC title and gear up for postseason play.

Ironton:

  • Ironton must not allow penalties and costly errors to hold back their explosive offensive attack.

  • The Tiger defense must not allow the Hornets to find a rhythm with their ground attack. Expect to see extra defenders in the box.

Coal Grove:

  • Offensively, the Hornets will need to avoid turnovers, gain first downs and shorten the game as much as possible.

  • The defense will be tasked at slowing down Ironton's speed at the skill position. Ball pursuit and disciplined play will be important.

Rock Hill Redmen (2-6, 0-5 OVC) @ Chesapeake Panthers (3-5, 0-5 OVC)

Time: Friday, October 13, 7:00 PM

Where: Panthers Stadium, Chesapeake, OH

Both teams' rushing attacks should be on full display this Friday. The Panthers are looking to get their first win in this series since 2017. The Redmen are looking to spoil Chesapeake's hopes at a playoff berth.

Rock Hill:

  • The battle in the trenches will be critical for the offense. Opening holes early by the line and the backs hitting the holes will be critical.

  • The defense will have keep Chesapeake's speed from getting outside where they can do the most damage.

Chesapeake:

  • The Panthers must be able to finish drives. Avoiding penalties or missed assignment will be key.

  • The defense will be tested up front by Rock Hill's style of play. This means playing solid assignment football.

Game of the Week: Ironton Fighting Tigers (7-1, 5-0 OVC) @ Gallia Academy Blue Devils (7-1, 4-1 OVC)

Time: Friday, October 13, 7:00 PM

Where: Memorial Field, Gallipolis, OH

Last season the Blue Devils came close to pulling off a major upset at Tanks Memorial Stadium. This season, Ironton will have their full attention for this game. A win for Ironton all but ensures at least a share of the OVC title. For Gallia Academy, a win would ensure a split share of the OVC crown.

Ironton:

  • The Tiger offense has a great amount of athleticism at their disposal. Getting the ball to them early will help establish the pace of the game.

  • The defense needs to apply pressure on Blue Devil quarterback Braylon Rathburn and not allow him to get comfortable in the pocket.

  • Penalties and limiting costly mistakes will be two of the biggest obstacles for Ironton on Friday.

Gallia Academy:

  • The best way to keep Ironton's potent offense off the field is for Gallia Academy's offense to execute and avoid turnovers.

  • Defensively, the Blue Devils will be tested by Ironton's speed on the outside. They'll need to pursue the ball and cut down runnings lanes.

  • The Blue Devils need to play as flawless as possible and not squander any chances that are given to them.
