FRANKLIN FURNACE — Abbie Knapp and Matti Hayslip combined for 46 points and 15 rebounds to help the Green Lady Bobcats defeated the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings 67-40 on Monday night.
The Lady Vikings kept things close early on, getting 6 points in the paint from Kaitlin Maynard and a bucket from Riley Loundenburg.
Brenna Tibbs scored on an outlet pass following a steal by Lydia Saunders to make the score 11-9 with 35 seconds remaining in the period.
But Knapp would finish off the first period by drawing a foul on a made under-handed shot from the baseline and then sink the ensuing foul shot to make the score 14-9.
The Lady Bobcats (6-0) would expand their lead in the second quarter using a 10-1 run. Knapp kicked off the run with a turnaround score from the low block and Haylsip finished it off with a pair of 3-pointers to give Green a 26-13 advantage.
Symmes Valley (1-6) would halt the run with a pair of free throws from Saunders and 2 baskets from Kaitlin Maynard to cut the deficit to 28-19 at the break.
The Lady Bobcats continued to build their lead in the third, getting 5 points from Ava Abrams — including a 3-pointer in front of the home bench to give the Lady Bobcats a 39-24 lead at the 2:45 mark.
Later Knapp would make a steal and drive the length of the court for the lay-in to make it a 20-point lead.
Kanpp dominated the game with 30 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists and & blocked shots. Hayslip scored 16 points and had 6 rebounds with 3 assists.
Kaitlin Maynard scored 11 points for the Lady Vikings.
