MERCERVILLE — Abbie Knapp picked up where she left off last season.
Knapp opened the season with 28 points, 18 rebounds and a pair of blocks to lead the Green Lady Bobcats to a 48-43 win over the South Gallia Lady Rebels.
Ava Abrams scored 10 points and Matti Hayslip added 9 points to aid the Lady Bobcats offense.
Sharla Hammond scored 16 points to pace South Gallia.
Knapp scored 10 points including a 3-pointer while Hayslip added a triple as Green jumped out to a 13-5 first quarter lead.
Jacie Booth hit a 3-pointer for South Gallia (0-1).
South Gallia came back and cut the deficit to 20-18 at the half as Hammond hit a 3-pointer and scored 7 points and Ryleigh Shafer added 4 points.
Abrams hit a 3-pointer and Knapp scored 4 points for the Lady Bobcats.
Green was able to add a point to its lead in the third quarter as Knapp scored 6 points and Abrams got 4 more.
Emma Clary hit a 3-pointer and scored 5 points while Sydni Hornsby had a trey for the Lady Rebels in the quarter.
Knapp had 8 points, Hayslip scored 5 points including a trifecta, and Abrams added a 3-point goal as the Lady Bobcats held off the Lady Rebels.
Green was able to hold on an win despite making just 3-of-10 from the foul line in the fourth quarter as the Lady Rebels were forced to foul.
Hammond hit a pair of 3-pointers and Shafer had 4 points including a 3-pointer in the comeback attempt.
Green plays at Western on Monday.
