CINCINNATI — Six different Fort Wayne players scored to help the Komets shut out the Cincinnati Cyclones 6-0 and set up a Game 7 tomorrow night.
The Komets struck first with a short-handed goal by Anthony Petruzzelli at the 4:12 mark to take an early 1-0 lead.
Matt Alvaro followed up later in the first period to extend the Komets lead and William Provost scored the lone goal in the second period to make 3-0 at the second intermission.
Cincinnati had been in this position before, as they trailed 3-0 during Game 1, but the Cyclones battled back in the final period to tie the game and eventually win in overtime.
But the Fort Wayne erased any hopes of any late-game heroics, scoring three more goals in the final period. Samuel Dove-McFalls scored less than a minute into the third.
The Komets put the game away later in the period with Darien Kielb and Mark Rassell each scoring a power play goal to make the final score of 6-0.
Ryan Fanti registered his second shutout of the series, stopping all 32 shots.
The series will be decided tomorrow night at 7:30pm at Heritage Bank Arena with the winner moving on to the Central Division Finals to face the Toledo Walleye.
