Laborn, Herd shut down Dukes in 26-12 win

HARRISONBURG, Va. — Khalan Laborn ran wild for 151 yards with two rushing scores and the Marshall defense held the Dukes scoreless the final three quarters, as the Thundering Herd took down the James Madison 26-12 on Saturday.

Laborn has now surpassed 100 yards on the ground in every game this season, to bring his total to 1,002 for the season.

The senior running backs' 61-yard touchdown run in the second quarter drew the Herd within 12-9 and his 18-yard run capped the scoring in the fourth quarter.

Marshall (4-3, 1-2 Sun Belt) took the lead for good in the third quarter when Cam Fancher hooked up with Corey Gammage for a 57-yard touchdown to make the score 16-12.

Rece Verhoff added a 38-yard field goal to extend the Herd's lead to 19-12 with 8:10 left in the third frame.

Fancher completed 15 of 31 passes for 159 yards, the one touchdown and two interceptions for Marshall.

James Madison (5-2, 3-2) quarterback Billy Atkins was 13 of 35 passing for 164 yards with a touchdown and four interceptions. Percy Agyei-Obese had 96 rushing yards for the Dukes.

Marshall returns home to face Coastal Carolina next Saturday.
