After winning their opener but then losing 60-21 on Wednesday to Lucasville Valley, the Green Lady Bobcats bounced back with a better performance despite losing 65-46 to the South Gallia Lady Rebels.
“My young team played much better tonight against powerhouse South Gallia,” said Green coach Melissa Knapp.
Freshman Abbie Knapp played well as she scored a game-high 28 points for Green (1-2, 0-1).
Morgan Lyons had 18 points while Lindsey Wells and Tori Triplett scored 11 points each for the Lady Rebels (2-0, 1-0).
Lyons scored 8 points and Macie Sanders 6 as South Gallia went up 21-12 in the first quarter.
Abbie Knapp scored 10 of Green’s points with Ava Adams adding the other basket.
Wells scored 5 points as she, Sanders and Sydni Hornsby all hit 3-pointers to put the Lady Rebels up 42-20 at the half.
Knapp scored all 8 points in the quarter for Green.
Green outscored South Gallia 13-6 in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 48-33.
Matti Hayslip drilled a 3-pointer and scored 6 points while Natalie Butler also had a 3-pointer and added 5 points for the LadyBobcats.
But Wells scored 6 points and Lyons had 5 points including. 3-pointer as the Lady Rebels outscored the Lady Bobcats 17-13 in the final quarter to secure the lead and win.
Green hosts Eastern Meigs on Saturday.
