CHESAPEAKE — Just keep in step.
The Fairland Lady Dragons are keeping in step and with it they are keeping their hopes of an Ohio Valley Conference championship alive with an 8-3 win over the Chesapeake Lady Panthers on Wednesday.
Fairland is 11-3 overall and 8-1 in the league. Ironton leads the league at 11-1 by virtue of playing more games.
Kaylee Salyer racked up 17 strikeouts as she pitched a 6-hitter. Salyer gave up 2 earned runs with just 3 walks.
Hannah Webb pitched well in defeat for Chesapeake (5-13, 3-8). Webb gave up 8 hits, 8 earned runs with 5 strikeouts and only 2 walks.
Salyer ws 2-3 with a triple and 2 RBI for Fairland and Katie Dehart 2-4 with 2 RBI. Katy Bell and Makena Black each went 1-3 with an RBI, Madi McKinley 1-2 and Ally Shepherd 1-3 with a triple.
Riley Isaacs was 2-4 with an RBI and Addison Maynard 1-4 with an RBI for the Lady Panthers. McKenna Brown, Sophie Wagner and Mary Michels were all 1-3.
