BERLIN — The Fairland Lady Dragons left the locker room after halftime followed a quarter lager by their offense.
Fairland suffered a bad third quarter that allowed the Mount Notre Dame Lady Cougars to rally for a 55-47 win on Sunday in the annual Classic in the Country at Berlin Hiland High School.
Fairland (12-2) saw a 3-point halftime lead evaporate in the third quarter as Mount Notre Dame took a 12-point lead and went on for the win.
Fairland took an early 12-9 first quarter lead as five different players scored, led by Isa Taliaferro with 4 points.
Gracie Pitzer was 4 of 4 from the foul line for the Lady Cougars.
Notre Dame cut the deficit to 27-24 at the half as Kaillee Bransford hit a trey and scored 7 points while Mia Veith hit a 3-pointer.
Bailey Russell hit a 3-pointer and scored 5 points and Addison Godby also had 5 points for the Lady Dragons.
Notre Dame came out the third quarter and outscored the Lady Dragons 20-8 and took a 45-35 lead.
Bransford continued her hot-shooting as she knocked down two more 3-pointers and scored 12 points.
Addison Cornell and Russell hit 3-pointers for Fairland.
In the fourth quarter, Russell hit a 3-pointer and scored 8 points while Ava Layne hit a trifecta as Fairland tried to rally but could only outscore the Lady Cougars 12-10.
Bella Veith hit a 3-pointer hit for Mount Notre Dame as five different players scored.
Russell led Fairland with 17 points. Taliaferro had 14 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals while Godby had 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.
Bransford scored 22 for the Lady Cougars.
