PEDRO — This was a roster game.
It seemed like everyone on the Coal Grove roster contributed in some fashion as the Lady Hornets beat the Rock Hill Redwomen 42-34 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Monday.
“Emma Lively and Jenna Anson led us in scoring and Izzy Kitts had a good defensive performance. Kendall Taylor handled the pressure well and had multiple assists,” said Lady Hornets’ coach Nick Miller.
“Kasey Vanderhoof rebounded and played great post defense. We had good minutes out of Kalli Vanderhoof and Harmonee Boggs as well.”
Rock Hill (6-13, 1-11) took an 11-9 first quarter lead as Myles Bailey hit a 3-pointer and scored 5 points and J’lynn Risner added 4. Taylor and Lively hit 3-pointers for Coal Grove.
Lively hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored 8 points and Boggs hit a trey as Coal Grove took a 22-17 halftime lead. Risner scored all 6 of Rock Hill’s points.
The Lady Hornets (10-10, 5-8) went up 35-27 in the third quarter as Anson scored 8 points and Lively had 5 points including a triple. Risner scored 7 for Rock Hill.
Each team scored 7 points in the fourth quarter.
“Road wins in the league are tough no matter what league you are playing in,” said Miller. “Rock Hill always battles the whole game.”
Lively scored 16 points and Anson 12 to pace Coal Grove.
Risner scored 18 points and Bailey 9 for Rock Hill.
