PEDRO — The Coal Grove Lady Hornets always seem to be able to do good Deeds.
When Abbie Deeds takes the mound, the Lady Hornets can expect a good performance.
The Lady Hornets’ right-hander got their good Deeds on Monday as she pitched her team to a 2-1 win over the Rock Hill Redwomen in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
Deeds fired a 3-hitter, struck out 9 and walked only 2 in the complete game victory.
Rock Hill took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning.
But Coal Grove took a 2-1 lead in the third inning and never relinquished it.
Kassidy Travis singled, stole second and scored on a double by Deeds. Shay Collins followed with what proved to be the game-winning RBI single.
Rock Hill’s Karlee Gillespie pitched a 4-hitter as she struck out 3, walked 3 and allowed just 2 runs.
Collins 2-3 with an RBI, Deeds was 1-4 with a double and an RBI, and Travis was 1-2.
Alaina Wilds, Savannah Kidd and Kassidy Lyons were all 1-3 for the Redwomen.
