Lady Panthers split Monday and Wednesday games

CHESAPEAKE — The Chesapeake Lady Panthers got a thumbs up and a thumbs down over 3 days.


The Lady Panthers fell 45-36 to the Gallipolis Blue Angels in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Monday but bounced back to beat the Fairview Lady Eagles 63-10 on Wednesday.


Ryleigh Shaffer hit a pair of 3-pointers as Gallipolis took a 13-12 first quarter lead.

Kate Ball hit a 3-pointer and scored 8 points while Brooklyn McComas knocked down a trey for Chesapeake.


Kenya Peck scored 4 points as the Blue Angels extended the lead to 22-19 at the half.

The Lady Panthers were 5-of-7 at the foul line as they scored just 7 points in the second quarter.


Each team scored 9 points in the third quarter.


McComas had a triple, Ball hit a basket and Erin Hicks and Abbey Isaacs each went 2-for-2 at the foul line in the quarter while Shaffer hit a 3-pointer and had 5 points.


Galliopolis  added to its lead in the fourth quarter as Peck scored 6 points and Lamiyah Weilson hit a 3-pointer.


Ball drained a trifecta and scored 7 of Chesapeake’s 8 points in the fourth quarter.


Ball had a game-high 21 points to pace Chesapeake (0-3, 0-3). She also had 8 steals.

Hicks had 3 steals while Clairynn Romans, Hicks and Ball had 4 rebounds each.


Shaffer scored 14 and Peck 11 for Gallipolis (1-2, 1-1).


The Lady Panthers picked up their first victory of the season on Wednesday with an easy win over the Fairview Lady Eagles.


Brooklyn Isaacs hit five 3-pointers in the first quarter and scored 14 points in the quarter while Kate Ball gave plenty of support with 9 points and the Lady Panthers led 31-4.


Ball had 8 points in the second quarter while McComas hit another trey and had 5 points with Hannah Webb adding 4 more and it was 60-10 at the half.


McComas also had 3 rebounds and 5 assists while Ball had 4 steals and Erin Hicks grabbed 5 rebounds. Abbey Isaacs had 5 rebounds and 3 assists.
