GALLIPOLIS — Jasmyn Jones was in the right place at the right time and that was quite alright with the South Point Lady Pointers.
Jones scored six times in a 7-1 Ohio Valley Conference win over the Gallipolis Blue Angels on Thursday.
“Jasmyn Jones was able to get our offense going tonight with six goals. Jasmyn was just the ‘open man’ tonight and she was able to finish it,” said Lady Pointers’ coach Erin Jenkins.
“Our midfield did a great job of finding the open forward which just so happen to be Jasmyn six times.”
Jaycie Walters cored the first goal of the game off of a free kick.
“We have struggled in the midfield in years past, but sophomores Alli Stidham, Bindi Staley and Neveah Huff stepped up tonight and won balls in the air and quickly moved the ball up the field,” said Jenkins.
South Point is now 2-1 on the season with the loss coming 1-0 on a last-second goal by Boyd County, Ky.
The Lady Pointers have a big conference game next Thursday against defending champion Rock Hill.
