PEDRO — To quote Superman, “Up, Up and Away.”
That’s what the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers kept doing on Friday as they belted 5 home runs in a 14- Ohio Valley Conference game.
Bella Sorbilli clubbed 2 home runs as she went 3-3 with 4 RBI, Khamil Martin slammed 2 home runs as she went 3-4 with 3 RBI, and Graycie Brammer belted a home run as she went 1-3 with 3 RBI.
Braylin Wallace went all 5 innings for the win. She gave up just singles, struck out 6 and walked one.
Ironton (11-4 6-1) got a run in the first inning when Martin singled, stole second and scored on a hit by Aubrey Ferguson.
The Lady Fighting Tigers scored 5 runs in the second inning to lead 6-0.
Wallace led off with a single and Sorbilli belted a 2-run round-tripper. An out later, Katie Williams doubled and scored when Brammer reached on an error. Martin then smacked a 2-run homer.
Rock Hill (4-7, 4-3) got its run in the second inning on a walk, and singles by Alaina Wilds and Kassidy Lyons.
But Ironton came right back with 5 more runs in the third.
Katelyn Moore singled leading off and Sorbilli singled to send courtesy runner Aubrey Shavers to second. Emily Weber sacrificed the runners up a base and Katie Williams had a 2-run single. Brammer followed with a home run and then Martin made it back-to-back home runs.
Ironton got 2 more runs with 2 outs in the fourth inning when Wallace singled and Sorbilli cranked a home run to center field.
The Lady Fighting Tigers final run scored in the fifth when Brammer was hit by a pitch, went to second and scored on a hit by Ferguson. Kenley Neal hit into a fielder’s choice as the run scored.
Besides the home run trio, Katie Williams 2-3 with a double and 2- RBI, Wallace 2-3, Ferguson 2-4 with an RBI, Weber 1-2 and Katelyn Moore 1-4.
Melvin, Wilds and Lyons all went 1-2 for the Redwomen.
