Hayven Carter scored 19 points to lead 3 players in double figures as the Portsmouth Lady Trojans beat the Coal Grove Lady Hornets 69-35 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Monday.
Besides Carter, Sienna Allen and Daysha Reid scored 18 points each as Portsmouth improved to 14-2 overall and 10-0 in the league.
The Lady Hornets wasted a 22-point performance by Alivia Noel who was the only Coal Grove player in double figures.
Carter drilled a 3-pointer and scored 11 points, Allen had a 3-pointer and scored 5 points, Savanna Cantrell hit a trey and Reid scored 4 points as Portsmouth jumped out to a 25-8 first quarter lead.
Noel had half of Coal Grove’s points.
Reid scored 6 points, Carter got 5 and Allen hit a 3-pointer in the second quarter as the Lady Trojans extended the lead to 39-18.
Noel hit a 3-pointer and scored 5 points for the Lady Hornets (5-10, 4-6).
Reid scored 8 points with Allen and Cantrell getting 4 each in the third quarter as Portsmouth outscored Coal Grove 18-13 to build a 57-31 lead.
Noel had another big quarter with a trifecta as part of her 11 points. Isabelle Kitts had the other 2 points.
