Lillard scores 71 as Blazers beat Rockets 131-114

PORTLAND, Ore. — Damian Lillard set franchise and career records by scoring 71 points— which tied for the most in the NBA this season — and 13 three-pointers to lead the Portland Trailblazers to a 131-114 win over the Houston Rockets on Sunday night.

Lilliard's scoring feat tied Cleveland's Donovan Mitchell for the most points in a game this season. He also broke his own franchise mark of 61 points, something he's done twice, on a three-pointer with 4:42 remaining.

Lilliard was one 3-pointer shy of the NBA record that was set by Golden State's Klay Thompson in 2018. Thompson's Warriors teammate Stephan Curry (2016) and Chicago's Zach LaVine (2019) also made 13 3's.
