POMEROY — There weren’t any local team champions, but the individual end of the Division 2 district track meet was impressive.
Fairfield Union won both the boys and girls track meets with 105 and 159.5 points, respectively.
The South Point Pointers were third in the girls meet with 102 points and second in the boys meet with 98 points.
Fairland girls were 8th with 21 points, Ironton 9th with 18, Chesapeake 10th with 15.
Ironton’s boys were 7th with 38, Chesapeake 8th with 29 and Fairland 10th with 26.
But there were plenty of regional qualifiers and several district records were set.
The top four finishers in each event qualify for the regional meet Tuesday and Friday at Muskingum University in New Concord.
South Point’s Joey Bloebaum won the 200 meters with a time of 22.38 seconds. Teammate Elijah Wilburn was fourth at 22.84 seconds.
South Point had 2 qualifiers in the 100 meters as Wilburn was second at 11.21 seconds and Kamren Miller fourth at 11.32.
Bloebaum also won the 400 meters as he beat Ironton’s Tatum Moore in a photo finish. Bloebaum ran a 50.60 and Moore was timed at 50.68 seconds.
The Panthers Cameron Burgess won the 110-meter hurdles at 14.38 seconds as he just missed the district record he set last year.
Burgess was second in the 300 hurdles at 38.45 seconds as both he and winner Chayse Lipscomb of Fairfield Union broke the district record to 39.09 by Ethan Tabor of Sheridan.
Chesapeake’s Kaiden Harris was 6th in the 1600 run with a 4:45.23 clocking.
In the 4x100 meter relay South Point, Ironton and Fairland all advanced.
South Point’s team of Bloebaum, Wilburn, Miller and Deshaun Garred ran a 43.0 seconds time to place second.
Ironton was third as Connor Lowe, Maddix Markel, Kayden Edwards and Jack Whaley combined for a time of 45.03.
Fairland was fourth with a time of 45.38 with the team of Jack Hayden, Weston Goff, Conner Black and Tristan Dailey.
South Point’s team of Bloebaum, Miller, Garred and Wilburn ran a 1:29.28 time to not only win the 4x200 relay but broke their own district record set last year.
Ironton’s quartet of Edwards, Moore, Markel and Jack Whaley was third with a 1:31.18 clocking.
Fairland was 6th as Hayden, Goff, Xander Collins and Jeremiah Fizer ran a 1:34.57. The Dragons’ Goff, Fizer, Conner Black and Jackson Milam was 7th in the 4x400 with a 3:40.46 time.
Ironton’s 4x800 relay team of Ethanol Hellyer, Anthony Bell, Bryce Markins and Wyatt Baumgardner ran a 9:13.59 to place 7th.
Fairland was 8th as Dalton Griffing, Mitchell Dunlap, Jonathan Nida and Waylon Michael ran a 9:18.19.
In field events, South Point’s Carter Smith and Chesapeake’s Corey Davis both second the district record in the pole vault by clearing 15 feet.
Smith won the meet based on fewer misses and thus gets sole credit for the district record. Davis finished second while Fairland’s Conner Black was third at 12-4 and Ironton’s Landon Thomas 7th as he cleared 11-4.
Ironton’s Lowe also qualified in the long jump with a leap of 19-7.5.
The Pointers Derrick Taylor was a double winner as he shoved the shot put 58-7 to second the district record. His toss of 153-10 won the discus.
Fairland Tristan Dailey was fifth in the shot put at 45-1 and the Pointers’ Owen Fredrick was 8th at 40-7.
In the discus, Dailey was 6th at 133-4 and teammate Will Callicoat was 7th at 133-1.
In the girls’ meet, Leila Hall took first place in the 100-meter hurdles with a district record 14.89 time.
In the 400 meters, South Point’s Samiya Bradburn won with a 58.96 time to set a district record. Camille Hall was second at 59.90.
South Point took the top 2 spots in the 100-meter dash as Emma Layne won at 12.37 seconds and Leila Hall was second at 12.58.
Layne came back to win the 200 meters with a 25.5 Tim and Camille Hall was fourth at 26.79 seconds.
South Point combined Camille Hall, Leila Hall, Bindi Stale and Layne to win the 4x100 relay with a snappy time of 50.06 seconds.
The Lady Pointers also won the 4x200 relay as Layne, Bradburn and Camille and Leila Hall ran a 1:41.52 time and just missed breaking their own record set last year.
Chesapeake’s Laila Wentz was fourth in the 800 meters with a 2:24.17 time.
Ironton freshman Marlena McCown was fifth in both the 1600 and 3200 but she set school records in the 1600. McCown had a 5:23.76 clocking in the 1600 to pass the previous record of Taylor Hacker at 5:30.61.
In the 4x400 relay, Fairland was 7tn as Bree Allen, Kylee Bruce, Katie Stitt and Molly Dunlap combined for a 4:24.39 time.
In field events, Staley was 6th at 8-4 and Fairland’s Katie Stittl was 7th at 8-foot.
Fairland’s Molly Dunlap won the long jump with a leap of 16-6.5. Dunlap also finished 6th in the 300 hurdles at 47.36 seconds.
Chesapeake’s Lauren Pater was fourth in the long jump at 15-11 as she beat Anna Cadle of River Valley who also went 15-11. However, Pater’s second longest jump was 15-3.5 and Cadle’s second best was 15-2.25. Bradburn was 7th at 15-8.75.
South Point’s Savannah Perego was second in the shot put with a distance of 36-2, Ironton’s Keegan Henderson third with a heave of 35-6.25 and Chesapeake’s Addison Maynard fourth with a 34-0.75 distance.
Fairland’s Avery Byers was fifth at 29-10 and Rock Hill’s Abigail Payne 8th at 29-5.
Perego also placed second in the discus with a toss of 121-6. Irontn’s TaShawna Young was 5th at 103-feet while Byers was 8th at 94-9.
