PROCTORVILLE — Fairland's Trevor Lochow caught fire on a frigid winter night to the tune of 7 3-point field goals to help the Dragons post a 76-53 win over the Symmes Valley Vikings on Tuesday.
Lochow finished the night with a game-high 23 points, 6 assists and 3 boards.
Teammate Brody Buchanan also hit a personal milestone, becoming the 18th male player to reach 1,000 points at Fairland. Buchanan's clinching shot came when he took a feed from Lochow and buried a triple from the right wing at the 2:46 mark.
The Dragons came out hot to begin the game, as Lochow connected five times from behind the arc in the first. The senior nailed 4-straight to begin the game to give the Dragons a 12-1 lead at the 5:10 mark of the opening quarter.
Lochow would later nail his fifth of the quarter in front of the Symmes Valley bench to bolster Fairland's lead to 19-5.
Will Jones put up 4 points in the paint and Bronx Carpenter hit a triple in the first for the Vikings.
Carpenter would finish with a team-high 15 points and 4 rebounds. Jones scored 14 and grabbed 6 boards.
Ethan Smith was kept in check all night by the Dragons, only allowing the senior guard to finish with 10 points on the night. However, Smith was able to score 6 points during the second, including twice in transition.
Fairland's offense continued to stay hot in the third, as Cliff Fransen emerged with 10 points to lead the Dragons in the quarter. His back-to-back shots from the 3-point line stretched the Dragons lead out to 56-32 with 2:56 remaining in the quarter.
Keegan Smith would chip in 6 of his 8 points in the quarter as well and Lochow hit his final triple of the night.
The Vikings would outscore the Dragons 15-13 in the final quarter, with Carpenter scoring 5 points and Jones adding another 4 to his total.
Fransen finished with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Buchanan added 9 points and 6 assists in the winning effort.
