FRANKLIN FURNACE — It was a lights out performance for quarterback Jace Manning and the Fairview Eagles.
With 2:31 remaining in the ballgame, the stadium's lights went out because they're preprogrammed to do so.
But before the lights went out, Manning completed 14 of 20 passes for 183 yards, and accounted for all five of Fairview's touchdowns as the Eagles defeated the Green Bobcats 32-12 on Friday night.
After a turnover on downs by Green, the Eagles 56-yards on their opening possession for the first points of the game. Manning would find Kevonte Spates-Olds for the six-yard touchdown pass and Manning's conversion pass to Xavien Kouns would make the score 8-0.
The Bobcats (1-4) would answer to begin the second quarter as Braxton Conschafsky would barrel his way in from nine-yards out to cut the Fairview lead to 8-6.
The score was set up by short punt from Fairview (1-4) and then Blake Smith carried the ball four-straight times for 24 of the 33 yards needed to find the end zone.
But from that point on, the Eagles would score 20-consecutive points to end the first half, as Manning would throw touchdown passes of 57, 3, and 54 to bolster Fairview's lead to 28-6.
Spates-Olds would haul in the long throws by Manning, giving him a total of three scores on the night. He also led Fairview receivers with 8 catches for 153 yards. Kouns caught the other touchdown pass for the Eagles.
Conschafsky led the Green rushing attack with 13 carries for 110 yards and both scores. Smith had 14 carries for 69 yards.
The Bobcats would find the end zone one more time in the third quarter, as Smith would start the drive with three punishing runs on Eagle defenders and then Conschafsky would nose his way in from one yard out to make it 36-12 with 44 seconds remaining in the third quarter.
Green will be on the road next Friday as they face the Symmes Valley Vikings in SOC I action.
