IRONTON — Meatloaf sang that “Two Out Of Three Ain’t Bad,” but you never heard him sing anything about three out of four being really good.
The St. Joseph Flyers had three strong quarters as they found themselves trailing the unbeaten Northwest Mohawks by one point.
But the Flyers couldn’t make it four good quarters as they fell 61-50 on Friday.
Connor Lintz scored 8 points and Tanner Bolin 4 as the Mohawks took a 16-14 first quarter lead.
Wesley Neal hit a 3-pointer and had 7 points while Evan Balestra had a trey and 5 points for the Flyers.
Lintz hit a trey and scored 7 points while Logan Wolfenbarker added 4 more in the second quarter.
Wesley Neal scored 7 points and Aiden Deborde hit a trifecta in the quarter for the Flyers.
The Flyers cut the deficit to 39-38 at the end of the third quarter as Neal scored 7 more points with Deborde and Balestra each adding a basket.
Lintz had 5 points and Jenkins hit a 3-pointer in the quarter for the Mohawks.
But the Mohawks (5-0) outscored the Flyers 22-12 in the fourth quarters as Bolin scored 9 points including 3-of-3 at the foul line.
Northwest converted 8-of-11 from the foul line in the quarter.
Drew Brown drained a 3-pointer and had 5 points while Deborde hit another triple in the fourth quarter for the Flyers.
Neal scored 21 points to lead the Flyers (0-4) with Balestra added 11 points.
Lintz had a game-high 22 points to pace Northwest. Rolin had 17 and Wolfenbarker l0.
