Monsters get shootout win

Cole Sillinger netted the lone goal in the shootout to give the Cleveland Monsters a 1-0 win over the Belleville Senators on Wednesday night.

Regulation and overtime turned into a duel between goaltenders Mark Sinclair for Belleville and Jet Greaves for Cleveland, who combined to stop 67 shots.

Sinclair, who was just recently called up from AA affiliate Cincinnati, made 41 saves in his AHL debut.

It appeared the Monsters had scored the game-winning goal in overtime, as Trey Fix-Wolansky wristed his own rebound shot past Sinclair with two seconds of the clock.

But play was whistled dead when Sinclair's helmet came off while stopping the first shot.

During the shoot out, Sillinger beat Sinclair glove side to secure a 1-0 win for the Monsters.

The Monsters are now 30-29-5-2 and currently in sixth place in the AHL’s North Division standings.
