NEW YORK — ESPN announced its major matchup for Week 0 and Week 1 as part of a presentation to advertisers in New York on Tuesday morning.
The most notable matchup revealed, was the Texas A&M Aggies hosting the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on ABC in a prime time matchup to cap off a tripleheader on Saturday, August 31.
The game will feature Mike Elko's first game as Texas A&M's head coach. Elko was the head coach at Duke the past two seasons and accumulated a 16-9 record. Prior to Duke, Elko served as defensive coordinator and safeties coach at Texas A&M from 2018-2021.
Elko also has ties to Notre Dame, as he served as defensive coordinator in South Bend for the 2017 season.
It was also announced that "College GameDay" will also be live from College Station, Texas. The last appearance GameDay made at Texas A&M was back in 2018.
The other Week 1 matchups announced for that Saturday are Clemson facing Georgia in Atlanta at noon and Florida hosting Miami at 3:30 p.m. in the first SEC telecast on the network.
On Sunday, September 1, the game between USC and LSU will also be aired on ABC, with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
NBC also has announced its first two "Big Ten Saturday Night" games, as defending national champion Michigan will host Fresno State on August 31. Colorado and Nebraska will be on Friday, September 6.
Fox has also revealed its first two "Big Noon Saturday" matchups. The first will be on September 6, as Texas will travel to Michigan. Then September 13 will feature Wisconsin hosting Alabama.
For Week 0, "College GameDay" will be making its first international trip on August 24. They will be on hand for the Florida State and Georgia Tech game in Dublin. That game will kick off at noon.
