KENT, Ohio – Ohio Bobcats fell to the Kent State Golden Flashes 82-75 in a hard-fought battle on Tuesday night inside the M.A.C Center.
Jaylin Hunter led all Bobcat scorers with 14 points, followed by 11 points each from Miles Brown and AJ Clayton. Dwight Wilson III added seven points and grabbed eight rebounds.
Ohio (17-13, 9-8 MAC) took 31-25 lead on back-to-back threes from Ben Roderick and Clayton with 4:43 left in the first half.
Kent State (24-6, 14-3 MAC) would later answer with four-straight points to cut the Ohio lead to one, but a deep three ball from Clayton with seven seconds left gave the Bobcats a 39-35 lead at the break.
The Bobcats extended their lead to 10, but Kent State would use a 14-3 run to take a 54-53 lead with 11:51 left in the game.
Ohio would take back the lead on three free throws from Clayton put the Bobcats up one, but again Kent State would regain the lead on a 6-1 run to take a four-point lead.
The Bobcats would cut the deficit to four, but that would be as close as Ohio would get, as the Golden Flashes were able to hold on for the 82-75 win.
Kent State was led by Sincere Carry with 23 points and five rebounds, Chris Payton added 15 points and nine rebounds. Malique Jacobs added 15 points and five assists.
The Bobcats finish up the 2022-23 regular season on Friday, March 3 when they host Bowling Green. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. inside the Convocation Center and can be seen on CBS Sports Network. It will also be Senior Night for the Bobcats.
