LOS ANGELES -- Zach Hyman's overtime goal may have saved the season for Edmonton, as the Oilers rallied from a three-goal deficit in regulation to beat the Los Angeles Kings 5-4 on Sunday night.
Hyman's snap shot from the left faceoff circle came at the 10:39 mark of overtime, capping off a dramatic Game 4 to help the Oilers draw even at 2-2 in the first-round playoff series.
Leon Draisaitl scored two goals and had an assist for the Oilers, and Evan Bouchard posted a goal and two assists. Connor McDavid had three assists on the night.
Edmonton's Jack Campbell, was called into action after Stuart Skinner was pulled after one period. Campbell finished with 27 saves against his former team.
Skinner, a rookie who took over for Campbell as the primary starter during the regular season, seemed to not be on his game in the first period. When the teams took the ice after the first intermission, Campbell led the Oilers out of the tunnel.
Viktor Arvidsson registered a goal and an assist for Los Angeles. Gabriel Vilardi, Anze Kopitar and Matt Roy all scored goals, and Kevin Fiala returned for his first game since April 1 to account for two assists.
Joonas Korpisalo stopped 35 shots in the losing effort.
The Kings dominated the first period, jumping out to a 3-0 lead and chase Skinner off.
Fiala quickly made an impact in his return, with two assists in the first period.
Vilardi scored on a rebound at 9:25 to open the scoring after Skinner made a pad save on Fiala's backhand attempt.
Fiala got his second assist on Kopitar's power-play goal with 1:49 left in the period as the Kings scored twice in 84 seconds to extend their lead to 3-0.
But the Oilers took control in the second, notching a pair of power-play goals, to tie the game at 3.
The third period was evenly played by both teams, but Evander Kane's late goal would force overtime for the third time in the series.
Bouchard would jumpstart the Oilers comeback at 4:55 of the second with a slap shot from the point for a power play goal.
Draisaitl then evened the score with a pair of goals. His first came on a one-timer midway through the period. The goal also marked the Oilers' first even-strength goal since late in Game 2.
Draisaitl then tied it at 3 with 10.5 seconds remaining in the period on the Oilers' second power-play goal. His wrist shot that beat Korpisalo on his blocker side.
A backhander by Roy in front of the net at 4:28 of the third put Los Angeles back ahead 4-3, before Kane forced overtime with 3:02 remaining, as he snapped a shot to the far side of the net that Korpisalo was unable to get with his glove.
The two teams will take to the ice in Game 5 on Tuesday night in Edmonton.
